1925 Circuit des Vosges
(Sources : collection J.F.)

On 7th June 1925 the "Circuit des Vosges" was staged, a 384 kilometre event which included 200 km in mountainous regions. Starting and ending in Strasbourg, the cars went via Molsheim, Saint Dié, Gérardmer, Belfort, Mulhouse, Colmar and a few other cities. At least one Avions Voisin was entered for the race, piloted by Strasbourg-based auto dealer Mr. Karcher. Was he a Voisin dealer? Yes, if the story doesn't mention that, we can still find some ad for "Pétri & Karcher" as an "agence Voisin". Anyway, he knew how to drive a Voisin: He won the event without any penalties! Here is the letter he (or a member of his team) sent to the Voisin factory:

" Strasbourg, June 10, 1925

Dear Sirs,

We have the honour to confirm that yesterday we received with pleasure your telegram, for which we thank you.

Enclosed please find various photos of your car and the exact route of the circuit.

Regarding the behaviour of the car during the race, we only can repeat that she behaved admirably with great regularity, both on the ascents as well as on the plains.

We also repeat that the car produced a profound impression on all the spectators.

At last we want to point out the 18 HP Voisin arrived at every stage with a susbtantial lead, and on the last stage she arrived about ¾ of an hour before the opening of the control booth.

Please receive, Sirs, our best regards."

Where from we can easily deduct that the "sport" name of the torpedo C5 was not usurped!
