1921 Bordeaux-Paris

What has the Bordeaux-Paris bicycle race to do with this site, you may ask?

Wanting to follow the great long-distance cycling events of the mid-twenties in comfort, the directors of the magazine 'Le Sporting' naturally chose Voisins.

On the 1921 Bordeaux-Paris race, this particular Voisin found favour with its passengers if these comments are to be believed:

"The Voisin sped out in front as it left the city, and held the road marvellously at 100kph until we arrived without incident at Chatellereault on the banks of the river Vienne."

"Our magnificent Voisin laughs off every obstacle, and goes where and whenever she is asked..."

"Marchais, our ace driver, let the Voisin engine off the leash and this admirable car overtook the leading pack with ease..."

Note that this same car had proved its robustness by covering the Tour de France the previous year.

For the record, the race was won by Eugene Christophe in 22 hours, 29 minutes and 41 seconds...
